About
Description
Response Innovation Labs (RIL) is a brand dedicated to humanitarian response and collaborative problem-solving. It was born in Nepal in 2015, following the devastating earthquake, when founder Jennifer Wilde realized the need for a platform that would bring together start-ups, social entrepreneurs, researchers, and non-traditional actors to contribute solutions to the response. This led to the creation of the World Vision Nepal Innovation Lab, which quickly gained traction and produced impactful innovations like FieldSight.
In 2016, five founding partners came together to establish RIL, aiming to build a global network of response-based innovation labs. Over the years, RIL has developed a Convene-Matchmake-Support model, launched labs in different response contexts, and developed online tools to facilitate collaboration and funding. RIL's goal is to help innovations meet the needs of humanitarian responses worldwide.
Additionally, RIL offers Pop-Up Labs as a new service for humanitarian responses where a full lab presence is not necessary. With a growing network and partnerships, RIL continues to enhance its service offerings and tools to better serve the humanitarian community
