Bateau, meaning boat in French, is more than just a name—it represents a reimagination of the traditional American steak house. With a focus on quality, sustainability, and animal welfare, Bateau is dedicated to serving exceptional dishes that showcase heritage cattle breeds known for their incredible flavor. These carefully selected cattle are owned by Bateau and raised by Pure Country, a Food Alliance certified ranch in Moses Lake, Washington.
The cows are conscientiously grass-fed and grass-finished, resulting in the highest quality beef. Bateau takes pride in dry-aging their beef for a minimum of 21 days and butchering it in-house by their skilled butcher, Scott Johnson. In addition to their specialty cuts of beef, Chef Taylor Thornhill crafts inventive dishes using foraged and fermented ingredients.
The menu also features steak house classics done right, such as twice-fried frites and buttery mashed potatoes. Bateau’s friendly yet refined service and thoughtfully repurposed dining room fixtures from the beloved Boat Street Café create a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests.
