RetroBrain R&D is a young company located in the heart of Hamburg. Since 2014, we have been developing preventive and therapeutic video games for seniors. We asked ourselves, how can game characteristics, modern technology, and science be combined to positively impact the health of older and sick people? In response to this question, we created our main product, the eHealth solution memore.

Recognized as a benchmark in the therapeutic gamification industry (LIFT Basel) in 2015, we are now nationwide and certified as a Class I medical device, fully reimbursed by nursing care funds. With the help of a 3D camera, our gesture-controlled video games capture the movements of players and translate them into the game. Through intuitive movements developed from occupational therapy, players can navigate through six different game modules, including virtual bowling, motorcycle driving, and table tennis.

Evaluations conducted with BARMER have confirmed the positive effects of memore on various aspects of mental and physical health, including coordination, balance, attention, memory, social integration, and perceived quality of life. At RetroBrain, we believe that gaming is not just for younger generations. Older adults also enjoy playing games and discovering new experiences.

Based in Hamburg, our software is developed to meet the needs of users as well as scientific and nursing requirements. Our team uses state-of-the-art technologies such as C++, C# in Unity, Python, Docker, and Jenkins. We create and evolve our memore universe with its unique look and feel using tools such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Designer.

In recognition of our efforts in combating dementia and advancements in the field of digital health, we have received several awards, including the Digital Health Germany Award from CISCO, the Social Business Award SensAbility from WHU, and the Rudi Assauer Prize.
