## Description

Retrovaření is a culinary and publishing project founded by Kristina Šemberová, a journalist, cookbook author and editor. For more than twelve years, she has researched the history of Czech cuisine, particularly the First Republic period, drawing on historical cookbooks, magazines and newspapers. Her work brings traditional recipes to contemporary audiences. Her cookbook Sladká první republika features 115 desserts and has sold more than 8,000 copies. She has also collaborated with Kateřina Winterová for over a decade on the television program Herbář and related cookbooks.

Alongside culinary history, Retrovaření offers educational content and experiences. Its Půst – cesta k sobě course is a seven-week guided program built around the 40-day pre-Easter fasting period. Delivered through a private Facebook group, it combines seven videos on forming habits and keeping resolutions, seven readings about the season’s meaning, traditional fasting recipes with modern variations, and regular support. The course encourages self-reflection and replacing unhelpful habits with positive ones, with a suggested daily commitment of 20–30 minutes.
