RetuRO SGR is a brand established by the representative associations of beverage producers and retailers to manage the deposit-refund system in Romania. As a dualistic, not-for-profit company, RetuRO aims to reinvest any profit exclusively in the development of the system. Their mission is to implement Romania's largest circular economy project, the deposit-refund system, which will contribute to a cleaner and greener environment. This system requires consumers to pay a refundable deposit of 0.50 RON when purchasing beverages in non-reusable primary packaging. After emptying the packaging, consumers can return it to any retail store in Romania and get the deposit back, without the need for a receipt or proof of purchase. RetuRO, which has private and public shareholders, will ensure the efficient collection and recycling of the returned packaging. The implementation of this system will boost the recycling market in Romania, providing quality raw materials for recycling and helping meet European recycling targets.
