## Description

Les Révoltés de l’Histoire is a documentary film festival initiative run by the Protea association, a team united by a commitment to history education through cinema. The organization presents festivals and screenings across Île-de-France, Martinique, French Guiana and Réunion, bringing documentary films and opportunities for discussion to audiences in cinemas and local communities.

Its programs explore historical, cultural and social subjects, including slavery and colonial legacies, the history of the Caribbean, women’s lives, migration, music, racism and environmental issues. Events feature public screenings followed by discussions with specialists, as well as dedicated sessions for schools and professional audiences. The association also organizes screenings outside traditional cinema venues, helping make films accessible in towns and communities. Some of these events are offered free of charge.

Featured activities include the International Documentary Film Festival of French Guiana, held in Cayenne with additional screenings in municipalities, and Ciné Communes in Martinique, which brings films and debates to multiple towns.
