It was only after trying on a pair for a Jim Morrison Halloween costume that Alvie realized how amazing cowboy boots felt and looked. The idea of selling boots and flip-flops together came to him during a hangover in Thailand, where he believed that a person only needed a good pair of each to have a well-balanced life.

To create the perfect combination, Alvie traveled to León, Mexico, the bootmaking and leatherworking capital of the world, to ensure the boots were stylish and comfortably broken-in, while the flip-flops looked and felt great. For six years, Alvies sold their footwear out of Airstream trailers, demonstrating their commitment to providing comfortable and long-lasting shoes.
