## Description

Český šermířský klub Riegel is a Prague fencing club with roots dating to 1890 and formal establishment on 21 June 1902. Today, it welcomes people interested in trying the Olympic sport of fencing, with training focused on épée and sabre. The club’s schedule runs Monday to Friday and includes individual coaching, sparring, footwork technique, and work on timing. Prospective members can contact a coach to arrange a visit, take part in a training session, or watch from the club’s gallery. Visitors should bring indoor sports shoes and comfortable athletic clothing.

Riegel’s history is closely connected with the development of fencing in Prague. Its early trainers included Italian fencing masters, and the club adopted the Italian school of fencing. Its members also achieved Olympic success: at the 1908 London Games, Vilém Goppold z Lobsdorfu won bronze in individual sabre, while club members earned bronze in the team event. The club is located at Lazarská 15/7 in Prague 1, with entrance from the passage of Vlasty Burian.
