## Description

Rijksmuseum Meermanno, also known as Huis van het Boek, is a museum in The Hague and describes itself as the world’s oldest book museum. Housed in a historic monumental building near the Malieveld, it cares for a significant collection of rare medieval manuscripts and early printed books, including important Dutch cultural treasures. The museum brings the history of books to life by presenting historic works alongside innovative contemporary art and design.

Visitors can explore exhibitions, take part in workshops and educational activities, and discover the museum’s collections. Its programming connects the book as a carrier of knowledge with its roles as an artwork and design object. Exhibitions have featured late-medieval books in conversation with modern and contemporary artists, as well as work by typographers, artists and independent publishers. The museum also hosts artist residencies, including projects exploring the relationship between typography and nature. Guests can enjoy the museum garden, including a quiet place to read.
