## Description

Rio Grande Shoshin Ryu is a martial arts school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, offering training for children, teens, and adults. Its Shoshin Ryu system emphasizes practical self-defense alongside personal development, helping students build confidence, self-awareness, discipline, and character. Classes cover a range of skills, including newaza, or ground defense; nage, including throws, falls, and blending; and buki keiko, which uses knife and stick training. Students also study atemi, including kata, strikes, blocks, and kicks, as well as goshinjutsu self-defense and kokoro character development. The school offers separate youth classes for ages 8 to 13, kids’ classes for ages 5 to 7, and adult classes for ages 13 and up. Rio Grande Shoshin Ryu welcomes new students and invites prospective participants to sign up for a free class. Training takes place at its dojo on Menaul Boulevard NE in Albuquerque, with scheduled sessions Monday through Thursday and Saturday.
