## Description

RISE Adaptive Sports is a disability-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2007 and serving people with disabilities and their families across Dallas–Fort Worth. Guided by its values of recovery, inspiration, success, and empowerment, RISE creates welcoming opportunities to play, compete, build confidence, and connect with others. Participation in its programs is free.

Activities take place on the water at Lake Grapevine, in the gym at Georgia Farrow Recreation Center in Irving, and at nearby Meadowmere Park. Offerings include boating, tubing, water skiing, canoeing and kayaking, wakesurfing, wakeboarding, fishing, wheelchair football, wheelchair rugby, camping, and handcycling. Meadowmere Park also has five accessible campsites.

RISE supports people who attend independently as well as families, care providers, and support workers. Participants can create an account, add the people they support, complete waivers, and RSVP for program sessions. The organization also welcomes volunteers to help on the dock, water, court, and event crews, and invites partners and donors to help sustain its programs and accessible equipment.
