Rise Beyond The Reef

Rise Beyond the Reef is a brand that aims to support remote communities in the Pacific Islands, particularly in Fiji, which are facing a critical transition due to the dual impacts of capitalism and climate change. These communities, living in traditional village settings, are on the margins of the local and global economies, making them the last to receive resources and support. However, they are also often the greatest source of raw materials, holding water catchment and mountain forests in trust for us.

Despite their importance, these communities face challenges such as low education levels and limited access to resources and infrastructure development. Over half of Fiji's forested regions are located in these remote communities, but their poverty rate is high, with over a third of the population living below the poverty line. The poverty of other Pacific islands nations is also overlooked.

Rise Beyond the Reef aims to address these gaps by providing economic opportunities for women in remote communities through the sale of their handmade products, such as pillow covers, mats, wall hangings, kitchen and tea towels, and more.
