## Description

The Historical Society of Riverton, NJ, founded in 1970, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history of Riverton and its community. Established by a group led by founder Mrs. Betty Lockhart, the society has achieved significant milestones, including the preservation of local gaslamps and the nomination of Riverton’s Historic District to national registries. Through events like antique fairs, historic tours, and community concerts, the society fosters a love for local heritage.

The society offers engaging resources such as the "Gaslight News," which shares updates and historical insights, and self-guided walking tours available in digital format. Their initiatives include the installation of historical markers around the town and awards recognizing student achievements in history. Members and visitors can explore exhibitions, participate in concerts, and attend culturally rich events, all while supporting preservation efforts. The Historical Society of Riverton invites the public to join in its mission of exploration and preservation, ensuring that the stories of Riverton continue to be celebrated and cherished.
