## Description

The Royal Kingston United Services Institute (RKUSI) is an independent organization based in Kingston, Ontario, founded in 1925. Part of a wider network of United Services Institutes in Canada, it is patterned on the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies in London. RKUSI’s purpose is to study military science and foster understanding of Canadian defence policy. Its community includes serving and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP and CSIS, veterans of allied forces, and civilians who share its objectives.

RKUSI offers opportunities to learn, connect and contribute to informed discussion on defence, security and strategic affairs. Its activities include speaker presentations, conferences and other events, including the annual Kingston Defence and Security Forum. The institute publishes The Torch, a curated selection of articles and insights from Canada and beyond, and provides related resources such as videos, podcasts, publications and association links. It also recognizes contributions through awards and cadet-related initiatives.
