## Description

Rideau Lakes Environmental Foundation (RLEF) is a volunteer-managed, registered Canadian charity dedicated to protecting and preserving Upper, Lower, and Big Rideau Lakes in Ontario. Guided by its goal of safeguarding the lakes for future generations, the foundation supports practical environmental projects and works to strengthen understanding of local lake ecosystems. RLEF provides modest grants for initiatives that advance its mission, including research into the flora, fauna, and environment of the Rideau Lakes. Its research program invites scientific proposals across disciplines and helps build the knowledge needed to guide environmental action. The foundation also monitors relevant regulatory developments and intervenes when necessary to support lake health. Its work includes lake-health initiatives, environmental research, and water-safety efforts, with projects and updates shared through its website. RLEF raises funds through online donations processed by Canada Helps, e-transfers, and mailed cheques, and offers information for prospective project applicants and volunteers. Managed with low overheads, the organization says most donations go directly toward environmental projects that protect the lakes and the communities that value them.
