## Description

Robert Berrouët-Oriol is a Haitian linguist-terminologist, poet and literary critic whose work focuses on language, culture and writing in Haiti and Québec. His analyses and essays address linguistic planning in Haiti, the country’s official languages, Haitian Creole and French, language rights, and the teaching of Creole. His publications include books, collaborative works and chronicles, among them Haïti · L’œil de la parole, a collection of linguistic and cultural columns published in 2023 by Zémès and Cidihca, and L’aménagement linguistique en Haïti : enjeux, défis et propositions, a co-authored volume he directed. Berrouët-Oriol also writes poetry, with collections published by Triptyque, including Simoun, Éloge de la mangrove and Poème du décours. His literary criticism explores migrant and intercultural writing in Québec, including the landmark essay L’effet d’exil. A former instructor at Haiti’s State University and former inter-university cooperation officer at the Québec terminology bank, he shares analyses, bibliographic resources, media references and information about his books and poetry through his personal website.
