## Description

ROOT is an open-source data analysis framework designed for processing and scientifically analyzing very large datasets. Used in research across fields including high-energy physics, it supports analysis of petabyte-scale data; the project notes that more than two exabytes are stored in ROOT files and that ROOT played a role in the discovery of the Higgs boson. The framework is freely available to use and modify, and its open development process encourages users to contribute.

ROOT includes a C++ interpreter for rapid prototyping and provides a Python interface with dynamic bindings, alongside support for Jupyter notebooks.
