## Description

The Royal Historical Society is a UK society dedicated to advancing the scholarly study of the past and supporting professional historians. It works to promote the value of history, connect historians across communities, celebrate the diversity of the profession, and foster conditions in which historical research and teaching can thrive. The Society serves historians at different career stages through membership, events, advocacy and policy work, and opportunities to share research.

Its programmes include research funding, workshop grants, prizes, lectures, and applied history fellowships. The Society also supports historical publishing, including Transactions and New Historical Perspectives, a book series for early career historians published in partnership with University of London Press. The series offers titles in open-access digital formats and paperback print. Members and researchers can also access the Society’s library and archive, online resources, and blog, which features scholarship and discussion on historical research and teaching. Through initiatives such as its Festival of History, the Royal Historical Society brings historians and wider audiences together, while its guidance and funding help facilitate historical enquiry across the UK.
