## Description

The RRUFF™ Project is a comprehensive database dedicated to Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and the chemistry of minerals. Its mission is to compile high-quality spectral data from well-characterized minerals and share this valuable information globally. This resource serves as a critical standard for mineralogists, geoscientists, gemologists, and enthusiasts, facilitating the identification of minerals both on Earth and for planetary exploration.

The project boasts an extensive collection of data, featuring 6,006 IMA-approved minerals and nearly 10,000 total RRUFF samples, along with high-resolution Raman spectra, infrared spectra, and detailed chemical analyses. Users can confidently compare their Raman patterns with significant sample data, enhancing their research and exploration capabilities.

In addition to spectral data, the RRUFF™ Project offers sample photographs and downloadable references. It also invites contributions of rare mineral samples to enrich the database. Supported by sponsors like Michael Scott and funding from the National Science Foundation and NASA, the RRUFF Project continues to evolve, bridging the gap between science and practical application in mineral studies.
