## Description

RSS Jankalyan Samiti Maharashtra Prant is a social-service organization formed in response to Maharashtra’s 1972 drought, when community members came together to support relief efforts. Its work focuses on helping people in need and strengthening communities through health, education, disaster management, self-reliance, rural development and agriculture. The organization’s initiatives include healthcare facilities such as the Dr. Prabhakar Patwardhan Memorial Hospital, dialysis centres and blood services, alongside nutrition and maternal-child health projects. Its education and development activities include a mobile science laboratory, career counselling, adolescent development programmes, online values classes and kitchen-garden training. The Samiti also supports people with disabilities, including through the Sanveda Divyang Prakalp in Latur, and undertakes disaster-response and relief work, such as assistance after floods and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Its Purvanchal Vikas Prakalp serves communities through local development activities. The organization invites donations to support its work and states that eligible contributions qualify for tax exemption under Section 80G of India’s Income Tax Act. Its stated vision is to help build a safe, disaster-resilient society.
