## Description

RTOG is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving outcomes for cancer patients through practice-changing clinical trials. Collaborating with industry partners and federally funded programs, RTOG conducts extensive research to support its mission. Initially established as the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group in 1968, RTOG was part of the NCI-funded cooperative group program until 2014. Over the years, RTOG activated numerous protocols, accruing more than 110,000 patients and publishing over 1,000 papers reporting their findings. In 2014, RTOG joined forces with the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) and the National Surgical Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) to form NRG Oncology. As a member of NRG Oncology, the RTOG Foundation continues its NCI-funded research. Additionally, RTOG conducts industry-supported clinical trials and provides funding for collaborations and fellowships. With a focus on improving survival outcomes and the quality of life for cancer patients, RTOG operates on a global scale, with sites on four continents.
