## Description

Rubin Observatory, funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy, is an innovative astronomical facility located on Cerro Pachón in Chile, with its inaugural operations expected to commence in 2025. Named after pioneering astronomer Vera Rubin, who significantly advanced our understanding of dark matter, this observatory introduces groundbreaking technology to the field of astronomy.

The centerpiece of Rubin Observatory is the 8.4-meter Simonyi Survey Telescope, paired with the LSST Camera, which is the largest digital camera ever created. This advanced telescope will capture detailed images of the southern hemisphere sky every few nights for a decade, producing an unprecedented, ultra-high-definition time-lapse movie of the night sky.

The scientific capabilities at Rubin will facilitate discoveries involving asteroids, stars, supernovae, and the mysteries of dark energy and matter, promoting a deeper understanding of the universe. As a leader in astronomical research, Rubin Observatory is set to redefine our exploration of space through its unique data products and continuous engagement with the scientific community.
