## Description

RUDY is a rare disease research study led by a research team at the University of Oxford. It brings together doctors, researchers, patients and families in a national network, with the aim of improving understanding of rare diseases and helping develop new tests and treatments. The study is expanding to include rare diseases as more researchers join; people may register even if their condition is not yet listed.

RUDY collects participant information over a five-year period through questionnaires and other study activities. Participants can choose which parts to take part in and how the team contacts them, and can change their preferences or withdraw at any time. The website provides information about the study, participating conditions, project news and a research library. A volunteer patient forum, including adults with rare diseases and parents of affected children, connects the study with participants, families and carers.

The study reports more than 4,473 fully consented participants and over 122,354 completed questionnaires.
