About

Description

Rainier Valley Food Bank is the busiest food bank in Seattle, serving approximately 25% of individuals seeking food assistance. With a mission to nourish with good food, empower with knowledge, and serve with compassion, we provide fresh, healthy, and culturally sensitive food to over 8,000 guests each year. Our vision is to create a hunger-free Rainier Valley.

As a low-barrier food bank, we welcome and provide resources to all individuals in need. We are proud to be the only emergency food resource in Southeast Seattle. Our organization has a rich history, starting as Northwest Community Services in 1991 and evolving into Rainier Valley Food Bank to meet the growing demand in 2008.

Over the years, we have expanded our capacity and services, distributing over 879,032 pounds of food to those facing increasingly difficult circumstances. Located in the heart of South Seattle, our community is diverse, comprised of BIPOC individuals, people experiencing poverty, elderly individuals, immigrants, and first-generation Americans. We honor the land of the Duwamish People, the first people of Seattle, and strive to respect their culture and traditions.

We encourage our community to learn more about the Duwamish People and support them. Join us in our mission to make a positive impact by donating funds or food, volunteering, or exploring our services. Together, let's work towards a hunger-free Rainier Valley
