South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID) is a Media Development Organization (MDO) dedicated to fostering media development in Bangladesh and the South Asia region. As an essential part of tackling poverty and enabling sustainable development, SACMID promotes information and gender literacy in media. Their vision is to create a just and peaceful society through the socially constructive application of knowledge. SACMID works towards this vision by fostering an inclusive society through an enabling environment for freedom of expression that promotes pluralism and dialogue within the government, media, and civil society. They bridge the gap between government, media, and civil society by initiating interventions in effective lobbying, advocacy, and policy dialogue. SACMID believes that there is a need for an organization to take action in these areas, and they aim to fill that gap. Managed by the Board of Trustees, SACMID focuses on research, capacity building in media and information literacy, training for media professionals on editorial ethics and transparency, gender equality in media systems, structures, and content, as well as communicating with communities and adopting the Accountability to Affected People (AAP) approach. SACMID is committed to promoting a just and inclusive society through media development.
