## Description

The South African Centre for Digital Language Resources (SADiLaR) is a national centre supported by the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation. Hosted by North-West University, it operates as a hub in a network of partner nodes. Its enabling role supports research and development across all of South Africa’s official languages, with a focus on language technologies and language-related studies in the humanities and social sciences.

SADiLaR provides digital resources and infrastructure for researchers, educators and communities. Its offerings include language collections and repositories, an African Language Grammar Portal, corpus tools, machine translation, spelling checkers, and services for text resources. The centre also supports digitisation, speech research, language development and testing, child language development, and African Wordnet and multilingual terminology work.

Beyond its resources, SADiLaR promotes research, publishes guidance and documentation, and offers capacity-building activities, workshops, funding opportunities and conference support. Its projects, community events, blogs and newsletters help connect people working with language and digital humanities.
