## Description

Safe Haven is a family-based care home run by Gerrit and Monika Prins and affiliated with the Zorgkracht12 cooperative. Established in October 2019, it provides a safe, structured home for children and young people aged zero to eighteen who need support, recovery, and a foundation for a sustainable future. Residents can live with the family home full-time or part-time, depending on their circumstances. Safe Haven also offers ambulatory guidance by arrangement.

The care team consists of higher-education-trained nurses with extensive experience in mental health care, alongside a full-time behavioural scientist. Support is tailored to each young person and may include routine, personal attention, help with therapy, and guidance and treatment within the organisation. Safe Haven also works with parents to support care and upbringing, strengthen individual abilities, and develop future prospects. Building and investing in each young person’s wider support network is part of this approach. The home’s work is presented for referrers and others involved in a young person’s care, with information available about applications, quality policy, and the referral process.
