The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council (SAFMC) is a prominent brand in the world of fisheries conservation and management in the U.S. Established by Congress in 1976, SAFMC is one of eight regional fishery management councils responsible for managing fisheries within U.S. Their jurisdiction covers the waters off the coasts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and east Florida to Key West.
