## Description

SAGES eG is an inclusive, nonprofit cooperative based in Freiburg, Germany, dedicated to helping people grow older with dignity and quality of life. Its work is grounded in mutual respect, voluntary participation and democratic cooperation, bringing people together to address the challenges of ageing and strengthen community support.

SAGES operates an online helper portal that connects people seeking assistance with neighbours and other helpers. The cooperative coordinates and accounts for this support, compensates helpers for their time at €13.50 per hour, provides training and insurance, and works with all long-term care insurance funds. People can use the portal to find help or offer their time.

Through DNA – Die Neuen Alten (“The New Older People”), SAGES also supports active, meaningful later life. Its initiatives include mentoring, housing projects, discussion groups, intergenerational connections, grandparent partnerships, cultural and social activities, and opportunities for members to develop their own ideas. SAGES shares news, events and project information through its website and a twice-monthly email newsletter.
