## Description

The South African Jewish Museum (SAJM) is a vital institution dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich narrative of South African Jewry, which spans over 175 years. Nestled within the historic Garden's Synagogue precinct, the museum combines the first synagogue established in South Africa with a modern facility crafted from Jerusalem stone. It offers visitors an immersive experience through various multimedia exhibits, including interactive displays, archival films, and a treasure trove of artefacts that illuminate the vibrant cultural life and contributions of the Jewish community.

Central to the SAJM is the Jewish Digital Archive Project (JDAP), which digitizes and curates personal narratives, photographs, and documents to safeguard the community’s social, economic, and political history. This initiative enables global access to the stories and experiences of South African Jews, fostering a deeper connection to their roots and heritage. By focusing on social history, the SAJM highlights the everyday lives, struggles, and achievements of Jewish individuals and organizations, making it an invaluable resource for scholars and families alike.
