## Description

The Swedish Afghanistan Committee (Svenska Afghanistankommittén, or SAK) is an organisation working toward an Afghanistan free from poverty, where everyone’s rights are respected and people can live with dignity. Its work focuses on Afghanistan and the circumstances affecting its people, with information on women, children and young people, people with disabilities, climate and the environment, society, politics, culture and other topics. SAK also shares news, reports and policy materials, including a brief on the challenges facing maternity care and the role of midwives in Afghanistan.

The organisation invites individuals to support its work through one-time or monthly donations, tribute and memorial gifts, bequests, and membership. People can also take part through local associations, fundraising activities, campaigns and events. These include public gatherings, exhibitions and information activities that bring attention to Afghanistan and its people. Based in Stockholm, SAK provides information about its work, organisation, financing and opportunities to get involved, helping supporters learn about the issues and contribute in ways that suit them.
