Samarqand State University, also known as Samarkand Davlat Universiteti, is one of the leading higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, specializing in scientific and pedagogical training. Established on January 22, 1927, in Samarkand as the Higher Pedagogical Institute, it was later renamed as Samarqand State University in honor of the prominent Uzbekistani politician Sharof Rashidov.
