## Description

The South African Modelling Network (SAMNet) is a collaborative initiative designed to align South Africa's macroeconomic strategies with global developments. Spearheaded by Economic Research Southern Africa (ERSA), SAMNet serves as a comprehensive database of macroeconomic models that emphasizes the importance of pooling resources from national policy makers and academic institutions.

The network focuses on three main pillars: model development, facilitating the creation of innovative forecasting tools; code sharing, which allows economists to share and compare model codes; and training, promoting educational opportunities to enhance modelling standards in policy analysis.

By offering a repository for macroeconomic models centered on the South African economy, SAMNet encourages replication of significant research and fosters discussions among economists through its forum. Located in Claremont, Cape Town, the network is committed to advancing economic research and providing crucial resources for effective policy-making in South Africa's evolving economic landscape.
