## Description

The Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) administers performing rights on behalf of its members, including music composers, authors and publishers. It connects music creators with the businesses and organisations that use their work, helping ensure creators are compensated when their music is performed or broadcast in licensed settings. SAMRO licenses music use by broadcasters, venues, retailers, digital service providers and other businesses, then collects licence fees and distributes royalties to eligible members.

For creators, SAMRO provides information and guidance on membership, applications, benefits, royalty distributions, work registration and unclaimed royalties. Members and prospective members can access support, download forms and book in-person or online consultations. For music users, the organisation explains licensing requirements and offers guidance on applying for a music licence, including for public use of live, recorded or broadcast music.

SAMRO also shares information about its governance, financial performance, industry news and initiatives supporting music creation. Its services are designed to help creators understand and protect the value of their work while helping music users meet their licensing responsibilities.
