## Description

SandDollar is a brand at the forefront of financial innovation, leading the way in the digital transformation of the Bahamian dollar (B$). As part of the ambitious Project Sand Dollar, initiated by the Central Bank of The Bahamas, SandDollar aims to provide more inclusive access to regulated payments and financial services for underbanked communities and socio-economic groups in the country. Unlike cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Sand Dollar is a centralized, regulated, stable, private, and secure digital currency. It is backed by the foreign reserves, making it a direct liability of the central bank. This ensures its reliability and stability as a means of exchange. Through the Sand Dollar Network, all payments service firms will have access to the digital currency, promoting interoperability and enabling settlement of retail Bahamian dollar payments. The system's offline functionality allows for uninterrupted payments even when communication is disrupted between islands. Safety and security are paramount, with strict regulatory standards governing user confidentiality and transactions monitoring for fraud detection. Additionally, SandDollar offers multi-factor authentication and a digital ID solution, incorporating KYC and identity features for enhanced security in the financial services sector. Whether used for wholesale or retail applications, Sand Dollar provides individuals and businesses with a convenient and efficient way to make and receive digital payments. With its cutting-edge technology and commitment to financial inclusion, SandDollar is revolutionizing the financial landscape in The Bahamas.
