## Description

The San Diego County Women's Hall of Fame (WHOF) is an esteemed initiative that celebrates the remarkable achievements of women whose professional and volunteer efforts have significantly impacted the San Diego region and beyond. Established in 2001 by Sue Gonda and Olivia Puentes-Reynolds, WHOF aims to elevate community awareness about the essential roles women play in shaping society. The program is a partnership among the Women’s Museum of California, the San Diego State University Women's Studies Department, and the San Diego County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.

WHOF recognizes inductees through a formal ceremony, which includes the presentation of awards and the permanent archiving of their accomplishments at the Women’s Museum of California. This initiative not only honors individual contributions but also fosters a deeper understanding of women's historical significance. Through its dedication to remembering past inductees, WHOF creates a lasting legacy, inspiring future generations to continue working towards equality and recognition for women in various spheres of life.
