## Description

The Sandringham and District Historical Society Inc. is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and showcasing the rich history of Sandringham, Black Rock, Beaumaris, Hampton, and parts of Highett and Cheltenham. Located at 15 Melrose Street, the Society operates on Fridays and Sundays from 2 PM to 4 PM and by appointment on other days. Their mission includes cataloguing significant materials, recording oral histories from local residents, and sharing their findings through various media, such as social media, newsletters, and exhibitions.

One of their notable initiatives is the Castlefield Estate Project, which highlights the estate's historical importance as a post-World War I soldier settlement. The Society's ongoing research and celebrations, including a grand commemoration in 2025, affirm its commitment to honoring the community's past. The Society also offers assistance with research and has a shop featuring local historical books and memorabilia.
