## Description

San Salvador Home is a registered nonprofit organization in Hyde Park, Johannesburg, providing care and support for adult women with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1936 by the Dominican Sisters of the Congregation of St. Catharine of Siena of King William’s Town, the organization has grown from a residential care facility into a provider of holistic services and programmes for beneficiaries and the wider community. Its mission is to offer a safe, respectful and loving home where residents’ dignity and self-worth are upheld and they are supported to develop their potential. San Salvador’s services include residential care, a protective workshop, a weaving and knitting workshop, a day care and stimulation programme, and Sally’s Workshop. Across its programmes, the organization aims to help adults with intellectual disabilities pursue self-actualization and live meaningful lives with guidance and support. It also seeks to maintain a homely, secure and stimulating environment for current and future beneficiaries. San Salvador welcomes donations to help maintain its home and sustain its work.
