## Description

SAR Modellbau und Technik is the personal model-making website and shop of Thomas Kettner, based in Stuttgart, Germany. The site focuses exclusively on functional scale models of vessels operated by the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). These detailed models are designed not only for display but also to operate on the water, combining realistic appearance with practical functionality.

Visitors can explore build reports, technical information, and ideas for modifying and improving their own models. Thomas shares tips and experience gained through his projects, including self-designed functional components intended to add authenticity and capability. The site also features the model of the rescue vessel Bernhard Gruben, which inspired his return to model making in 2009 and reflects his interest in both construction and design.

For enthusiasts and newcomers alike, SAR Modellbau und Technik offers project inspiration and practical knowledge centered on DGzRS rescue vessels. A small online shop is available alongside the articles and model information, giving visitors another way to explore the site’s model-making offerings.
