# SaveChandra

- **Website:** <https://savechandra.org>
- **Primary alias:** `savechandra.org`

## Description

SaveChandra.org is a community-driven grassroots initiative dedicated to advocating for the preservation of the Chandra X-ray Observatory, a vital asset in NASA's Great Observatories program. The observatory has played a crucial role in advancing our knowledge of the Universe, from mapping black holes to inspiring future generations of scientists. Unfortunately, budgetary constraints threaten its continuation, despite its outstanding scientific contributions and synergies with other space telescopes. As a coalition of astronomers and supporters worldwide, we urge action to #SaveChandra from cancellation. Please join us in raising awareness and support for this important cause. Our site is not affiliated with NASA or associated institutions, and all content is created independently. We encourage the global community to use our resources and logos responsibly to spread the message of preserving this invaluable scientific asset. Take action now to safeguard the future of the Chandra X-ray Observatory!
