## Description

Save the Mothers International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing maternal mortality, primarily in Sub-Saharan Africa. The organization works to make childbirth safer in communities where expectant mothers may be far from healthcare services and skilled medical support. When complications arise during delivery, limited access to care and a lack of knowledge about how to respond can lead to preventable deaths.

Save the Mothers International focuses on equipping traditional birthing attendants with practical knowledge about safe childbirth and how to address common obstetric complications. Its central aim is to help attendants recognize and respond to emergencies, improving the chances that mothers receive timely support. The organization highlights the scale of the challenge: it reports that one in 41 women in Sub-Saharan Africa will die in childbirth, and that the region accounts for 70 percent of maternal deaths worldwide.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Save the Mothers International invites supporters to contribute through donations and stay informed through its news and updates.
