School on Wheels is a brand that provides free tutoring and mentoring to children from kindergarten through twelfth grade in Southern California who are living in difficult circumstances, such as shelters, motels, vehicles, group foster homes, and even on the streets. With a focus on improving educational opportunities for these children, School on Wheels has served over 50,000 students in the past 30 years. Each student is matched with a volunteer tutor who provides personalized weekly tutoring, school supplies, and assistance in entering school.

Scholarships, parental support, and a learning center on Skid Row are also offered. Volunteers are crucial to the success of School on Wheels, and the organization provides training on trauma-informed approaches to education and ongoing academic planning support. Donations play a vital role in supporting the organization's programming, with 92 cents of every dollar going directly to student support.
