# Schwingklub Burgdorf - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `schwingklub-burgdorf.ch` ## Description Schwingklub Burgdorf is a Swiss wrestling club founded in 1920 and affiliated with the Emmental Wrestling Association. Its location also connects many of its wrestlers with the Oberaargau Wrestling Association, giving the club a distinctive presence in both regional organizations. The club supports active and junior wrestlers through training at its wrestling hall on Gsteig in Burgdorf, which opens on Wednesday evenings. The hall also serves as a meeting place for former wrestlers and other club members. The club’s history includes three athletes who became Swiss wrestling kings: Robert Roth in 1919 and 1921, his brother Hans Roth in 1929 and 1931, and Silvio Rüfenacht at the 1992 Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Olten. Helping organize the 2013 national festival in Burgdorf was another milestone. Today, Schwingklub Burgdorf includes active and junior wrestlers, honorary and lifetime members, and a large supporting membership.
