- **Primary alias:** `scijava.org`

## Description

SciJava is a collaboration of projects that provides an overview of Java software for scientific computing. Its participating projects are developed independently but are committed to cooperation, library reuse, and integration to support more seamless workflows. The initiative began at the 2011 Fiji Hackathon in Dresden and initially focused on biosciences, while welcoming involvement from other fields.

SciJava’s offerings span reusable software libraries and applications designed to work together. Areas of focus include image processing, image visualization and annotation, workflow execution, and machine learning. Listed libraries include Alida, Bio-Formats, ImgLib2, SCIFIO, and SciJava Common. Applications in the wider ecosystem include Fiji, Icy, ImageJ and ImageJ2, KNIME, MiToBo, OMERO, Virtual Cell, and CellProfiler. Some applications provide reusable, extensible components, including plugin support.

The SciJava site also provides links to project code on GitHub, a SciJava Common presentation, a draft ROI model, and a Google group. Because projects have separate funding and origins, users are encouraged to consult each project’s website for details.
