## Description

SciStarter is a nonprofit platform that connects people with citizen science projects, researchers, and learning resources. Its mission is to increase public engagement in science to benefit both science and society. Through its searchable project directory, users can find volunteer opportunities by topic, location, or online availability, and discover activities suited to their interests. Projects invite participants to contribute in practical ways, such as observing wildlife, tracking pollinators and bird migration, documenting plants, stargazing, or monitoring air and water quality.

SciStarter also supports educators, libraries, Girl Scouts, and community organizations with training, educational materials, kits, events, and partner programs. Its resources cover subjects including data literacy, research ethics, environmental science, and the foundations of citizen science. For project organizers, SciStarter offers help with finding and retaining volunteers, as well as tools for adding projects and events and integrating the platform into other websites. The organization also shares science news and guidance through its blog, podcast, and calendar, and welcomes donations to support its public-engagement mission.
