Sierra Community Medical Foundation (SCMF) is dedicated to serving the people in Placer, Nevada, Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties. Working in partnership with various organizations, SCMF strives to improve access to education on healthier lifestyles, particularly for the indigent and uninsured members of our community. SCMF operates three vital programs. The Placer-Nevada Rx Drug Safety Coalition focuses on opioid safety and medication-assisted treatment access, including the distribution of Naloxone. Our Physician Wellness Program supports doctors by offering opportunities to combat burnout, manage stress, and rediscover the joy in practicing medicine. This program features peer groups, virtual fitness classes, group outings, volunteering opportunities, financial wellness information, and more. Our latest program, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)/Social Determinants of Health, aims to address healthcare disparities in underserved communities and raise awareness about the effects of adverse childhood experiences. We strive to increase the presence of health professionals in schools, implement health assessments, and distribute health education. SCMF provides access to programs and healthcare professionals who work with high-risk groups to overcome barriers that hinder healthy lifestyles. We collaborate with local hospitals, community organizations, law enforcement, and businesses to ensure that individuals and families receive the necessary treatment and medical services. Our goals include increasing healthcare coverage enrollment, enhancing access to culturally competent and high-quality healthcare providers, promoting methods to reduce opioid dependency, distributing Naloxone to law enforcement and treatment centers, offering health screenings for addiction and health disparities, providing steering committee and coalition activities for medical professionals and concerned community members, and supporting physicians in addressing burnout and maintaining their mental health needs.
