## Description

Scout Health is developing portable molecular testing designed to bring accurate diagnostic results closer to the point of care. Its Scout platform aims to deliver PCR-level performance in under 30 minutes, helping clinicians and patients make timely care decisions without waiting for central laboratory results. The company reports 99% agreement with high-complexity PCR in clinical trial data, though these claims have not been reviewed by the FDA.

Designed for use in clinics, community settings, and homes, Scout is described as ultra-portable and shelf-stable, with no installation or training required. The platform is intended to support near-patient nucleic acid amplification testing, including testing for gonorrhea, and may help practices provide results during a patient visit. Billing may be available under applicable CPT codes, subject to payer policies.

Scout Health has received funding from the NIH, CARB-X, and Flu Lab, and cites support from Johns Hopkins University and Emory University. Its product remains under development as an investigational device and has not been cleared or approved by the FDA.
