## Description

The Scovie Awards is a prestigious annual competition that celebrates excellence in the fiery foods industry, having evolved from the National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show in 1996. Initially known as "The Fiery Foods Challenge," the awards honor the legacy of Wilbur Scoville, the scientist who created the Scoville Organoleptic Test for measuring chili pepper heat. After separating from the show due to concerns about product safety and voting integrity, the competition rebranded as the Scovie Awards.

Today's awards feature a Professional Tasting Division where products are rigorously judged by a panel of 80 to 100 food professionals during a blind tasting process. Judging criteria include eye appeal, aroma, flavor, and heat scale. The Scovie Awards encourages culinary innovation and is open for entries biannually, making it a cornerstone event for chili and spicy food enthusiasts. The awards highlight the best products in fiery foods, supporting their growth and recognition in the market.
