## Description

Supercritical Inc. is an engineering consultancy specializing in multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO/MDAO), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and structural analysis. Founded by Professor Joaquim R. R. A. Martins, the company combines academic research expertise with practical industry experience to address complex engineering challenges and improve design performance.

The company develops and implements custom computational solutions, using and advancing tools including OpenMDAO, MPhys, ADflow, and TACS. Its services include high-fidelity CFD analysis, aerodynamic shape optimization, propulsion-airframe integration, structural analysis and optimization, aerostructural optimization, and coupled multidisciplinary design workflows. Supercritical also provides geometry parameterization solutions, along with training and workshops in CFD, structures, optimization, and MDAO.

Supercritical works with academic institutions, including the University of Michigan’s Department of Aerospace Engineering, and has collaborated with organizations such as Aerion Supersonic, Gulfstream, American Magic, and JetZero. By integrating analysis across engineering disciplines, the company helps clients evaluate designs, accelerate development, and optimize performance within real-world constraints.
