## Description

The Strategic Action Programme Implementation Project for the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand, known as SCSSAP, is a transboundary environmental initiative led by the United Nations Environment Programme in partnership with the United Nations Office for Project Services and funded by the Global Environment Facility. It supports participating countries in meeting the targets of the approved Strategic Action Programme through national action plans and stronger regional coordination.

The project focuses on reducing coastal habitat degradation and loss, improving knowledge-based planning for habitat management and land-based pollution, and strengthening cooperation at national and regional levels. Its work includes support for priority habitat sites and fisheries refugia, alongside initiatives such as SEA:STARS, SEA:LEARN, SEA:PUFFER and SEA Grants. Grant-supported activities feature community-led efforts in ecotourism, marine conservation, climate-resilient seaweed farming and mangrove protection across the region.

SCSSAP also shares project news, research, publications, lessons learned, videos and stories from coastal stakeholders.
